“FastNews” – Underwater Innovations from Norway’s Water Linked

Water Linked, in Norway, manufacture a range of underwater acoustic products for underwater communication developed with smart IoT technology. The products are based on reliable and affordable technology within the underwater industry through innovative product design using a newly developed underwater positioning system which the company calls Underwater GPS (UGPS). The company has a partner, Blue Robotics, to ensure that the final product is tailored to best suit needs from deep sea operators, and maritime search and rescue, to the defence sector.

Here are 2 of their range of products:

The ROV Navigation & Positioning

Their ROV (see above) pilots can navigate confidently and maintain optimal performance even in fast moving currents, communication challenges, and poor visibility often plague underwater operations. Their compact and lightweight suite of products—including Doppler Velocity Logs (DVLs) supporting precise navigation and control, Underwater GPS (UGPS) for real-time absolute positioning in challenging environments, the Sonar 3D-15 for clear imaging even in murky waters, and the Modem M16 for reliable communication beyond tether limitations—ensures that any ROV, regardless of size, can master the most demanding underwater environments. ROV from Blue Robotics in action

Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV) Navigation & Positioning

Water Linked’s integrated technologies, AUVs can operate more independently, efficiently, and effectively in complex underwater environments.’s AUVs offer advanced navigation and communication technologies with precise and reliable navigation for complex tasks like underwater surveys, inspections, and detailed seabed mapping. Their integrated technologies allow AUVs to operate independently, efficiently, and effectively in even challenging underwater environments.
