KTH Innovation supports over 400 startup ideas per year and has helped launch 450+ companies, so there is no single finite list — but here are the 17 startups from Batch 15 of the KTH Innovation Launch pre-incubator program:
- Apartly A platform enabling fractional real estate investment. It lowers the barrier to entry for everyday investors by letting them buy shares of properties. At the same time, it makes otherwise inaccessible apartments available for leasing. The goal is to democratize property ownership. It targets both investors and tenants in one ecosystem.
- Cavitreat A chemical-free water treatment solution using cavitating microbubbles. It removes bacteria and pharmaceutical residues from water efficiently. The approach is both economical and environmentally friendly. It represents a radically novel application of an existing physical phenomenon. It targets municipalities and industrial water systems.
- Datana A software tool that enhances existing in-store surveillance systems with AI. It gives retail staff early warnings about potential theft before it occurs. The goal is to allow staff to intervene proactively rather than reactively. It works with cameras already installed in stores, minimizing hardware costs. It aims to reduce retail shrinkage significantly.
- DewDrop A platform for discovering and sharing interesting experiences and places. Users explore an interactive map populated with curated local and global spots. It encourages both travelers and locals to document and connect around places they visit. The idea bridges social networking with travel discovery. It works from trips abroad down to walks around your neighborhood.
- Drivler An on-demand driving lesson platform that picks up and drops off learners. Students can book lessons at the time and place of their choosing with a single click. It also provides traffic schools with tools to grow and manage their business. The model brings flexibility to a traditionally rigid scheduling process. The goal is to modernize the driving school industry.
- Eithos A platform for generating and sharing synthetic data between companies. It lets organizations gain insights from each other’s datasets without exposing trade secrets. The underlying technology creates artificial but statistically valid data. This helps businesses collaborate on analytics safely and compliantly. It was developed from a KTH product design master’s course.
- Funki Musical instruments redesigned for people with intellectual disabilities. Funki opens up the world of band-playing to anyone, regardless of motor or cognitive ability. The instruments offer a new way of communicating and interacting through music. The project aims to be inclusive and joyful rather than therapeutic or clinical. It enables people to play on their own terms.
- Knowcean An ocean data startup tracking harmful algal blooms using underwater robots and satellites. It collects high-resolution data that is otherwise difficult and expensive to gather. Data-driven models are used to forecast bloom events before they become dangerous. This supports fishing industries, public health, and environmental management. The team builds both the hardware (AUVs) and the predictive software.
- Mininvasive A painless, blood-free home diagnostic kit for medical sampling. The patient can self-administer the test comfortably and safely at home. It reduces the risk of infection compared to traditional blood-based tests. It also simplifies logistics and lowers biohazard risks in sample handling. The tech promises to make diagnostics more accessible and affordable.
- Nobit A free-to-play digital trading card game built on blockchain. Players can customize any aspect of the game and earn NFT-based royalties for their creative contributions. The game merges the card gaming community with crypto-gaming mechanics. Its mission is to revolutionize card games by uniting players and content creators. It aims to build a self-sustaining, player-driven economy.
- Pearch A search engine specifically built for podcast audio content. It lets users search for spoken words inside podcast episodes. Both listeners and producers benefit — listeners find relevant episodes fast, while producers gain discoverability. It addresses the fact that audio content is largely unsearchable today. The product taps into the rapidly growing podcasting market.
- ReWheel A marketplace platform for second-hand bicycles aimed at local bike shops. It helps stores manage their used bike inventory and reach more customers online. The goal is to become the go-to platform for the second-hand bike market globally. It supports the circular economy in urban mobility. The team targets passionate cyclists and sustainable consumers.
- Sammy A workplace safety platform for schools and other organizations. It automates the scheduling of safety rounds, risk assessments, and follow-ups. The goal is to help schools systematically improve their work environment. By digitizing these processes, it reduces administrative burden and increases compliance. It targets HR and safety managers in the education sector.
- SaniSOLE An environmentally friendly alternative to disposable sanitary pads and diapers. Made from biopolymers extracted from agricultural biomass, the materials are fully plastic-free. The product is biodegradable down to the last molecule, unlike current fossil-based alternatives. It is built on five years of KTH research in fibre and polymer technology. It addresses sustainability across the entire product lifecycle.
- Scaleup Robotics A robotics-as-a-service startup that generates training data for AI-driven robotic systems. It provides access to massively parallelized robots to create large datasets cheaply and quickly. This solves one of the biggest bottlenecks in training robotic manipulation algorithms. The approach dramatically cuts the cost and time of data generation. It targets AI and robotics companies developing physical automation.
- Skrivo A platform that connects writers with their ideal readers using machine learning. It analyzes your existing and extended network to match authors with potential audiences. It tackles the problem of discoverability for writers in a crowded digital landscape. The tool is designed for both fiction and non-fiction creators. The mission is to help good writing find the people who will appreciate it.
- Trainit A cloud computing platform built specifically for machine learning practitioners. It connects ML developers with individuals who have high-performance computing resources to spare. The model creates a distributed network of computational power at lower cost than traditional cloud providers. It democratizes access to GPU-heavy training environments. It targets students, researchers, and startups with limited budgets.
