People often wonder why the Nordics are happy and come up with all sorts of funny explanations.
Well, here is one actual reason why Denmark is a lot more happier than many other places and it is related to community action.
Next week they are celebrating an annual campaign called ‘Affaldsindsamlingen’ which translates freely into “Clean up Week”.
It starts tomorrow, 7.4.2024, and will last until Friday, when schools, daycare centres, etc. will collect waste dumped around schools, kindergartens, and in nature.
On Sunday 14 April, there will also be events throughout the whole country, where everyone is invited to participate in removing rubbish and waste from their local areas.
If you keep places tidy and can get millions to join together in a voluntary manner then you have one great foundation of happiness.
Who wants to walk around filthy cities and countryside like we see in so many “unhappy countries”.
It costs nothing to get people to work together to clean up their living areas, but the cost of a polluted unhealthy environment is huge…
